Copywriting is the process of writing advertising promotional materials.

There are certain skills required at this level of writing which include the following:

  1. A tertiary degree in English, Marketing or Advertising
  2. Excellent communication skills in English, as well as marketing knowledge
  3. A good vocabulary and ability to see and correct your own errors
  4. An ability to observe and put forward various points of view
  5. Good research and listening skills
  6. An aptitude and talent for writing and concepts

There are several good free online courses to teach you how to write advertisements, press releases, catalogues and other advertising slogans.

You will need to connect and develop a network with advertising agencies and public relations companies in order to find work.

Once you have experience, the world is yours to conquer – a good copywriter can become a creative director in an advertising company, thus your earnings would increase substantially.
